Post-Election Ontario: An Analysis

Presented by Hart House Debates Committee

Details: Join us for an evening of discussion and analysis with leading political experts as we deconstruct the events of the last Ontario Provincial election. This panel discussion will delve into recent history to look at demographics, analyze future policies of the victorious party and assess future implications of the current results.

Speakers:

Darrell Bricker, CEO of Ipsos Global Public Affairs

Prior to joining Ipsos Reid, Bricker was director of public-opinion research in the office of the prime minister. He holds a PhD in political science from Carleton University, is the co-author (with Edward Greenspon) of Searching for Certainty: Inside the New Canadian Mindset, and is the co-author (with John Wright) of What
Canadians Think About Almost Everything.

Karen Howlett, reporter for The Globe and Mail

Karen Howlett has been covering Ontario politics at The Globe’s Queen’s Park bureau since 2005. She previously worked in the paper’s Vancouver bureau and in The Report on Business, where she covered a variety of beats, including financial services and securities regulation. She led two projects in ROB that were nominated for Michener awards.

Graham White, Professor, University of Toronto at Mississauga and expert on Ontario politics

Professor White focuses on Canadian politics with special attention to the structures and processes of government at the provincial and territorial level. An author of ten books, White has a demonstrable interest in the politics, policies and management of the Canadian Arctic. He is a member of the boards of the Canadian Political Science Association, the Canadian Study of Parliament Group (CSPG) and the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) and chairs the CPSG Research and Publications Committee as well as the IPAC Research and Professional Practices Committee. Professor White holds a BA from York University, with both an MA and a PhD from McMaster University.
