Your good ideas help enhance student life. Tell us about a film screening, conference, exhibit, performance, or other activity and you could be awarded up to $1000 towards making it happen.

The Good Ideas Fund is open to all full- or part-time UofT students and to any UofT student group.
Funding priorities for the GIF include:

  • Activities or projects that reflect the Hart House Vision
  • Activities or projects that enhance or have a significant impact on student life on campus
  • Activities or projects open to all students  and that benefit all students
  • Activities that promote diversity, collaboration and interaction between student groups

Applications will be assessed on how well they meet these criteria and the quality of the impact on the UofT student community. Successful applicants are eligible to receive up to $1,000 in funding per term, throughout the 2011-12 academic year, for on-campus events. Applicants must submit their application a minimum of four weeks before the event.

A. Background Information

B. Connetion to the Hart House Vision

Using the Hart House Vision, please explain how your event furthers or contributes to the vision.

The Hart House Vision
Hart House is a living laboratory of social, artistic, cultural and recreational experiences where all voices, rhythms and traditions converge. As the vibrant home for the education of the mind, body and spirit envisioned by its founders, Hart House encourages and supports activities that provide spaces for awakening the capacity for self-knowledge and self-expression.

C. Outcomes and Impact

D. Project or Event Description

Location, date, space, AV and food requirements, etc.

E. Budget Summary

Please attach a detailed event budget including: expected income and expenditures for the event. The budget should identify other funding sources, and what items, specifically, you would like Hart House to fund. In some cases, Hart House will be able to provide room bookings and/or AV equipment. Please indicate if you require this kind of support. Student organizations should also include copies of their overall group budget for the year. Providing detailed budgets will ensure the GIF Committee has the necessary information to make a timely decision.

F. Promotions Plan

G. Additional Information

H. Final Report

Final reports must be submitted after your event takes place. The report should include copies of receipts for expenditures, a description of the outcome of the project or event (how many attended, who, how were they impacted, what did those organizing the event learn?) and any documentation of the event itself (photos, video, etc.)
