6:00 PM / Tying Your Own Shoes / East Common Room
A screening of Oscar nominated short animated documentary exploring how it feels to be a little bit unusual.  Directed by filmmaker Shira Avni, it provides insight into the lives of four adult artists with Down Syndrome.

6:30 PM / A Conversation on Access to Artistic Expression / East Common Room
A panel discussion confronting the label “disability”: does it obstruct artists from expressing their voice?  Do developmental and intellectual disabilities restrict access to education, materials and the practice of art? Sharing their experiences will be Shira Avni (Director of Tying Your Own Shoes), Petra Tolley (Artist featured in Tying Your Own Shoes), John Jowett (Key Artistic Director & Founder of Keys To The Studio), Eddie DeMooy (Artist participating in Keys To The Studio), Jason Melville (Actor from Dramaways)
Moderated by Anne McGuire (PhD student and TA, Disability Studies, U of T.)

8:00 PM / Keys To The Studio / Arbor Room (Sammy’s Pub)
A concert featuring bands and solo acts of musicians from the community of people diagnosed with developmental and intellectual disabilities who create and play their own music in collaboration with professional musicians, in an evening of great music that’s sure to surprise you and may even make you dance.

November 4-20, 2010 / Unlocking Minds / Main Hallway
An exhibit of works created by visual artists. including Lance Brown, Andre Oliveira and Risa Sie, who also participate in the music programs at Keys To The Studio.
