A Letter from the Artistic Director

Welcome to Hart House Theatre. It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself to you as the 11th Artistic Director of Hart House Theatre and the first to hold that honour in over thirty years. The re-emergence of this position demonstrates the Theatre’s continued dedication to creating dynamic theatre for a diverse and discerning modern audience.

The 2010/2011 season is sure to delight with a line-up that is compelling, contemporary, and daring. The season kicks off with William Shakespeare’s most popular and bloody history, Richard III. In November we’re tackling one of the most controversial and stunning psychological dramas of the 20th century with Peter Shaffer’s Equus. The New Year will bring a little something to warm your winter blues with the Toronto Premiere of the hilarious musical adaptation, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and then we round out the season with another exciting Toronto Premiere: The topsy-turvy cultural comedy, Yellow Face by David Henry Hwang. We are thrilled to bring you something a little different than the usual fare – engaging, exciting and thoughtful plays that will grab hold of your imagination and leave you talking long after the curtain closes.

Sincerely,
Jeremy Hutton, Artistic Director
