THEATRE

The Engagement

Presented by AfriCan Theatre Ensemble and Hart House

Details: In celebration of Black History Month, Hart House presents AfriCan Theatre's one-act, African-centric adaptation of Anton Chekhov's A Marriage Proposal, a farce about the marriage proposal and engagement between a shy, hypochondriac young farmer and the daughter of his neighbour.

A hilarious look at the human character, the play highlights the intricacies of human relationships and humorously explores our conflicts surrounding the idea of ‘ownership,’ and our tendency to compete against one another.

The play will be followed by a 45 minute interactive analysis to further engage the audience and foster critical reflection.

When: Thursday, February 17, 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Where: Hart House Reading Room, Hart House, 7 Hart House Circle

Cost: Free
