Move and be moved, hear and be heard, see and be seen. Discover and enrich your inner life and outer expression through movement and playful exchange. Build a connection with your body on a deeper level by becoming mentally and physically present. Sense the support of the ensemble while we explore how the slightest gesture can open the gateway to intrigue and discovery. As we mine our physical instrument, reflection and response to others will become key elements to personal and shared experiences.
There will be a one-hour lunch break at noon. There is no food service at Hart House on Sundays.
This class is designed at an introductory/journeyman level for those new to the arts or still in the early stages of their artistic exploration.

This introductory class will shed light on the elements of film and still photography as a basis for understanding video. Camera parts such as aperture, shutter, lens, and the CCD chip will be explained in order to make decisions about proper exposure, depth of field and motion. Other concepts specific to video such as white balance and gain will be introduced. Students will be shown basic camera set-up for shooting indoors and outdoors with the Film Board's DVX100.
On day two, we look deeper into video camera menu options, such as frame rate, manual VS auto functions, and the Scene File and User buttons. Using a hands-on approach, students will see first-hand how framing, axis and camera movement decisions affect editing choices. The instructor will give tips on best practices for using the camera to film in a variety of situations including hand-held and veritè. We'll be demonstrating the DVX100 but lessons learned will be applicable to all cameras.
