Marta Herman and Rob MacDonald – Voice and Guitar

On Sunday, January 22^nd at 3pm, Sunday Concerts is pleased to present Mezzo-soprano Marta Herman who has been praised by Opera Canada Magazine for her “full, rich” voice and “engrossing, utterly winning and stylish” singing. She is a recent young artist graduate of the University of Toronto’s Opera School, having fulfilled roles such as Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, and Lisetta in Il Mondo della Luna. Recognized for her performances of contemporary music, Ms. Herman has regularly performed as a soloist with gamUT New Music Ensemble, Das Studium Postmoderner Musik and the UWO Contemporary Ensemble. Ms. Herman will be accompanied by guitarist Rob MacDonald. Having performed with Soundstreams, Madawaska String Quartet, and Contact Contemporary Music, Mr. MacDonald is a renowned performer of new music. He is also co-founder of ChromaDuo, an ensemble actively commissioning, premiering, and performing new repertoire throughout North America. Marta Herman and Rob MacDonald are pleased to present a unique program for the Hart House Sunday Concert series, juxtaposing new music and early music in creative ways.
