Sunday Concerts Presents the junctQín Keyboard Collective

Details: On Sunday, December 11th at 3pm, Sunday Concerts presents a truly unique Keyboard Collective. The name of the collective is taken from junctio the Latin word meaning to join, and from Qín – the Chinese character for keyboard instrument. Through the use of unusual instruments such as toy pianos, music boxes, and iDogs, junctQín aims to make contemporary keyboard music accessible  and fun for all audiences.

When: Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 3pm

Where:  The Great Hall, Hart House, 7 Hart House Circle, University of Toronto

About the junctQín Keyboard Collective: Toronto-based junctQín (pronounced ‘junction’) consists of pianists Elaine Lau, Joseph Ferretti, and Stephanie Chua. Since its inaugural year, where it was featured in the 2009 spOtlight Festival, junctQín has premiered dozens of Canadian and international compositions. The group has performed in numerous venues and festivals, such as the Colours of Music Festival in Barrie. Projects and concerts in 2011 include a collaboration with the Toy Piano Composers Collective, and a commission of works by Canadian composers Aaron Gervais, Alex Eddington and Susan Griesdale. At the Hart House concert, junctQín will be presenting the program “From Bach to Glass(es)”. It features an arrangement of J.S. Bach for six-hand piano, as well as an eclectic mix of instruments, such as toy piano, cymbal monkey, and wine glasses.    www.junctqin.com
