Petya Stavreva currently studies with James Anagnoson at the Glenn Gould School, Royal Conservatory of Music, under scholarship, to complete an Artist Diploma. Petya’s previous teachers include Marietta Orlov and James Parker. She is a graduate from the Young Artist Performance Academy at The Glenn Gould School in Toronto, where she studied with Arshalouis Nersessian.
 
Most recently, Petya participated in the Banff Centre for the Piano Masterclass Residence in the summer of 2011 with John Perry and James Anagnoson, under scholarship. She is the winner of the Kiwanis Music Festival Piano Finals for 2010, as well as the Ontario Provincial Finals. Her concerto appearances include Chopin Piano Concerto no. 2 and Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto no. 2 with the Toronto Sinfonietta. She also received full scholarship to attend the Toronto Summer Music Festival with Andre Laplante and James Anagnoson in both 2010 and 2009. In April of 2009, Ms Stavreva collaborated with pianist Todd Yaniw for a piano duo recital at the Canadian Opera Company.

Before her arrival in Canada in 2003, Petya began her studies with Elena Yulianova in Bulgaria, and was a recipient of numerous awards at national competitions, as well as third prize at the international competition “Music and Earth” in Sofia.
